Honda CX500

The Honda CX500, released in the late 70s, was a real step forward for Honda at the time. It featured a water-cooled V-twin engine, shaft drive and electric-only start – all fairly advanced for its day.

As you can see in the first picture, this particular engine had seen better days and was definitely crying out for some proper restoration. After a full session of vapour blasting, the surfaces were brought back to life, with the alloy cleaned up and looking like it had just left the factory floor.

Now, instead of looking tired and weathered, the CX500 engine has that crisp, sharp finish it deserves – ready to be bolted back in and enjoyed on the road again.

This photo was provided by the bike's owner and shows the engine removed from the bike but before any cleaning and restoration
